The campus founders named this university after the date of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945. This is to dedicate the historic event of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Besides that, it is also the commitment of the Higher Education Foundation of Univestitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UTA’45) Jakarta to participate in realizing one of the ideals of independence, namely to educate the nation and increase national awareness to achieve a just and prosperous society based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

UTA’45 is well known as KAMPUS MERAH PUTIH. Red and white, as the embodiment of the national flag symbol, is considered the “Integration Factor” which is motivated by a spirit of unity and integrity based on the spirit of nationalism and patriotism based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, the existence of diversity as a manifestation of the dynamics of campus life is always returned to the motto of Bhineka Tunggal Ika, which means unity in diversity.

UTA’45 Jakarta was founded on July 14, 1952, by several national figures who belong to the nationality, as well as in its activities under the Higher Education Foundation of UTA’45 Jakarta, which consists of 9 members, including the chairman Mr. Iskaq Tjokrohadisuryo based on the Notary Akre R. Kadiman No: 38 of 1952.

In the last two years, the UTA ’45 Jakarta has experienced an early stage of progress, and therefore the Foundation of 17 Agustus 1945 decided to form a new board chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdoel Rachman concurrently as Secretary (1954-1977) with the aim of advancing this educational institution and focusing his attention on efforts to add facilities within the UTA’45 Jakarta environment, then the foundation relay was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Roosseno (1977-1996), H. Tjokropranolo (1996-1998), Djongor Lodewujk Aroean, SH., (1998-2010), and from 2010 until 2021 (currently) led by Rudyono Darsono.

UTA’45 Jakarta, at the beginning of its establishment, only had 1 (one) Faculty, namely the Faculty of State Administration in 1954, which is now known as the Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA), then expanded to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (1957), Faculty of Law (1960), Faculty of Engineering (1963), Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Economics (1979). Then in 1994, the UTA’45 Jakarta launched a Postgraduate Law program and a Pharmacist program under the Faculty of Pharmacy in1997, and finally, the Academy of Nursing in 2011.

Currently, UTA’45 has 5 Faculties with 13 Undergraduate Programs, Postgraduate Programs, and the Pharmacist Profession consisting of the Faculty of Law with a Bachelor of Law Study Program and a Postgraduate Program for Masters and Doctoral Laws. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences has 5 departments; Public Administration, Political Science, Government Science, Communication Science, and International Relations. Faculty of Engineering has 3 departments; Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Faculty of Economics and Business has 2 departments; Business Administration and Management and Accounting. While faculty of Pharmacy offers a Bachelor of Pharmacy Program and the Pharmacist Professional Program.

In 2024, it aims to become one of the quality universities with national character and international competitiveness in the region.

Mission

  1. Organizing quality education and teaching at the Regional level in accordance with the uniqueness of the study program.
  2. Organizing research that is oriented towards problem-solving at the regional level in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  3. Organizing community service that is oriented towards empowerment and improvement of community welfare in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  4. Organizing entrepreneurial activities based on innovation and creativity products in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.

Purpose

  1. Producing quality graduate profiles at the regional level in accordance with the uniqueness of the study program.
  2. Producing research that is oriented towards problem-solving at the regional level in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  3. Empowering and improving community welfare in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  4. Producing graduates who have creative ideas for innovative and entrepreneurial products in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.

Target

  1. Graduates have qualifications in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program. This is supported by the qualifications of graduates> 80% on time with a GPA of> 3.00, the average completion period of final assignments or theses ≤ 6, the waiting period of graduates before working ≤ 6 months, and 80% of graduates working in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  2. 100% of lecturers continue to conduct one study per year in accordance with the uniqueness of each study program.
  3. 100% of lecturers’ research results are published in scientific journals.
  4. 20% of the lecturers’ research is published in national journals with ISSN or published in national / international seminar proceedings.
  5. 40% of lecturers’ research results are published in accredited national journals.
  6. 40% of the lecturers’ research results are published in reputable international journals.
  7. 100% of community service activities are a follow-up to the results of lecturer research that are in accordance with the uniqueness of the study program.
  8. 100% of study programs have received income other than income from tuition fees as a result of marketing the study program products managed by the business center.
